We discussed a bit today about rank rewards and thought that we would like introducing that top5 in a season can keep the rank reward playermodel permanently instead of only for the season. Meanwhile we would like to reduce the amount of people who can have the rank reward for a season from top 20 players to just top 15. So top 5 get the rank reward skin permanently meanwhile the remaining 10 guys only keep it for the season.
In case a guy who already has the rank reward skin permanently is in top5 of another season again it just simply means that nobody gets his permanent reward.

That way can top players also gate keep the skin from being given permanently to other players. We plan already to introduce it with the end of this season in january. Meaning if you are in top5 when we reset hlstats in january you keep the reward permanently.

We also think about more options like rewarding a player model for having been in the top 5 for several seasons.

cool idea, wish we could do something similar with the event skins (for example top pumpkin collectors get the skins and the effects permanently or something)

Unfortunately that wouldn't make sense. Season skins should be used during its season in my opinion. Although what could be done is the top collectors from the previous season event could have the skin on the next one without collecting all the things (pumpkins/gifts) and they could keep it if they were still the top collectors.

This is the zombie escape forum, so we are not talking about mg here.
But that's a good concern anyway, sadly mg does not attract as much players as ze and skins can be earn just by playing on the mg server and buy them from a shop.
Making a rank season on a server without enough players will add more work for nothing imo.
 
Ranks will be reset today on ze. Moray, yoshmi, d3j4de, kanuuna and savita received the permanent skin reward. The remaining top15 will receive it until reset of the next season.

i know this is necro posting but i wanted to mention that we additionally decided that when players have 5k hours registered on zombie escape that they have the option to buy permanent vip if they directly reach out to me or other developers. The 5k hours is not about whatever time you have on your steam account, its about the time displayed in the !topplaytime command ingame on ze. The price if manually buying permanent vip would be the original price which back in 2015-2016 was 40 euro. Currently only bantu, alcolo, machu, encapsulation, pickle and me even have over 3k hours. So it might still take some years before it becomes a real option for the first people. But i wanted to announce that it officially exists.

if you manage to grind 5k hours playtime on ze the option is made available for you by reaching out to me or the other devs.

Also next week we finally plan on doing something about the 9th anniversary. I missed out on it myself because exams was literally the day after it. For example next week we probably add the gimmick that gives free VIP to everybody for around a week.

Well, Here's my opinion about rank rewards:

- You guys should give reward to the player who have killed most of zombies/humans.
- You guys should give reward to the player who have killed zombies by headshots.

The problem with the second one is that it would 100% be whoever zteles the most to kill afk zombies with m249 rebuys. Points is a better measure as it shows who actually plays the maps. Also I could be wrong, but I dont think the kills on hlstats even differentiates between zombie and human kills.

I would also be very surprised if there were anyone with more kills than all of those top 15 listed above. And if so it would likely be someone who inflates a lot.
 
The only thing I was trying to point is players who are from Asia, they mostly play in the morning (3-4 am EU time) and there are no active players and they just kill zombies with m249.

I agree with you!

Since I'm from Nepal, I'm mostly active in the morning (8-10 am ~ 5-7am EU time) and when I play on Unloze there are no players active and it's boring to escape every map so I just ztele and kill zombies headshots with M249 and I like to play ZM maps. Sorry if I was wrong.
