Hey! Now I dont know how many in here actually have a past in the military. But I still wanted to create this thread as a little bit of an experiment. Thread is for discussing military stuff, memories from services, stuff going on rn (if you are employed or doing service atm) or even stories from your parents/grandparents if you want.

Introduction : Now who tf am I? I'm a swedish guy of 19 years as of today & have started my mandatory military service just over 2 months ago from now. I'm in the army -- Ground to air defense force, having RB97 & group commander as my main roles. I am of the rank vice corporal & will be so throughout my entire service.
Just recently succeded in completing an exercise called "Städet" ( the anvil ), this one being an exercise who's main focus was just to tire reqruits to quite an extent ( ca 50 kg on your back on all times ). This exercise being similar to the AGU but a bit shorter (Aldrig ge upp or Never give up).

So don't be afraid to bring up anything As long as it is military topic its all fine. Even though I do expect people to be too boring to actually write here lol
This was supposed to mainly try to find fellow soldiers &or veterans, but if you are just intrested in military feel free to write aswell (:

Hi Zeus!!
I have a few questions for you.
What is a day in a life of a 19 yo swedish soldier , what type of training you guys do, with which guns do you shoot, what do you do for fun, if you have any fun at all.

Hmm, it kinda varies from day to day, but i guess the most normal day would be like this.

05:45 : Wakeup, put on clothes, polish boots, shave
06:30 : Breakfast
06:50 : Cleaning of the corridor, shower & all dorms
07:30 : Morning physical activity
08:00 : Commanders checks the cleaning aswell as all reqruits uniforms, polish of boots, shaving & general uniformity.

08:20 - 11:20 : Lessons
11:30 : Lunch
12:00 : Platoon gets ready to collect our rifles // Info about the rest of the day
12:30 : March towards the shooting range
13:00 : Shooting (Mostly 100-200 m)

15:00 : March back to the regiment
15:30 : Cleaning of guns, aswell as "visitation" (Commanders controll all parts)
16:30 : Dinner
17:10 : March training
18:30 : Close combat training
20:00 : Jogging
21:00 : Supper
21:30 : Briefing about the next day aswell as feedback about the current day.
22:00 "Högervänster OM" Meaning we are now off duty for the rest of the evening.

Some days are tougher than this, meaning we work until 00:00 or later depending on.
Our training mostly consists of marching long distances with heavy equipment (About 10 km marches//40-50 kg) & jogging (6 km joggs).
We currently only shoot with the "automatic carbine 5 caesar", but starting next week I will get education on p-skott (M/86 , anti tank weapon) , KSP 58 (Medium machine gun) & KSP 90 (LMG).

KSP 58 - 7.62 Ammo
KSP 90 - 5.56 Ammo
AK5C - 5.56 Ammo

For fun we mostly just screw around in the dorms or go to one of the so called "soldier homes" its a building next to the regiment with a small store, bar, computers, sofas & a ps4.
And well ofcourse if we get time we will go out drinking in the city

How many hours of sleep do you get again?
On a normal day, between 5-6 hours of sleep (Thats if you chose to go straight to bed after work).
The extended workdays, about 3-4 hours.
Field weeks or field exercises, between 1-2 hours of sleep

is this a swedish attempt on espionage?
would like to share my thoughts and days, but it is all classified..

(for real)

what i can say though, during recruit period our days were kinda the same as yours @Zeus then again norway and sweden is similar in a lot of ways :p

In the Finnish army the only people who are required to have a 8 hour sleep are drivers.

Everyone else gets sleep depending on how well they work. As in if you slack during a 50km march, and arrive late it’s all out of your sleep, since timetables are strict.
