Current radar settings on ze

What do you want to do with the radar settings?

As some of you might have noticed, we recently changed the radar to show everyone on it, both as a human and zombie.

Now I wanted to see some comments what you guys think about it. Personally I don't like it, since having the information of where the zombies are always is really powerful and renders some tactics more or less useless ( for example, trying to flank humans from more hidden path, or using an item that gives you invisibility ).

For zombies it is less useful, but it makes hiding as a human impossible, which can be negative in some situations, like in minas or slender. Some might think that hiding is cancerous, but there are some rare situations where it is kinda needed.

i still think it should be only for CTs, zombies taking alternate paths aren't as sneaky as they mgiht think, if someone wasn't gonna spot them before then they're not gonna do it now because they don't look at the minimap anyway, fringe cases where this makes a difference

and ye for zombies it's OP because it completely removes any form of hiding

mentioned this during the meeting but I love seeing the zombies on radar myself instead of having to trust some moron on mic that spams "USE WIND USE WIND WIND WIND"

I strongly believe being a sneaky zombie works. I've done it so many times.

Im thinking of this very situation: Im a zombie running towards humans with my 10 buddies. Luckily I manage to squeeze trough those boxes, Im sitting there in a corner doing nothing, waiting for my time to shine through the hail of bullets. Why am I waiting? Ive noticed, while running, only a couple humans saw me. Almost all of them don't know I managed to get into that corner just before their holding point. A mixture of luck and calculation will allow me to squeeze trough again and get a couple edging humans (stalker holding point after the bloodsucker, sunlight last stage, tyranny.... for instance)

The radar here definitely kills my sneaky strategy, as Ill be shown on radar right next to them. Even though they can't shoot at me, they all know I'm there and a few can focus that very corner Im in.

These are my two cents, but sneaky zombie is a perfectly valid and working way of playing on a lot of maps.

Also you can prefire so easily if you perfectly know when the zombies are going to appear past the corner.

For once i completely agree with egg, being able to always see zombies removes any extra element of surprise that a zombie can have and lord knows on some maps you really need some good alternate strats as zombie otherwise its just hold w and hope you can make it which honestly is just boring game play. If you start to remove the zombies ability to even come close to humans it will make the game far less fun. If we start removing any element of counter play that zombies have it will just become boring and noone will want to play as zombie if their entire experience is hold W.
 
I made the plugin because the current implementation of the radar is broken for zombie escape imo.
The radar only shows players from the opposite team if someone on your team is looking in their direction right now.
If everyone turns around and runs falls back then the radar will be completely empty, not a single red dot on it.
So a single zombie can get a really good bhop etc. and fuck up the round if no one is backpedaling and covering the team.
Especially if you take zcleanse into account that you can't even slow zombies by simply nading them anymore now.
Someone has to dedicated their full attention to zombies and possibly fail because they are covering the slow ones in their team.
With the radar I was trying to balance this a little bit.

And hidden paths, shortcuts, etc. should really not be an argument since it's not realistic to expect all players to know all paths on the 308 maps we have in rotation.
And either way we'd learn about the hidden path etc. on the next round in case nobody covers it and a zombie makes use of it.
But the past week showed that players are still confused and rather doorhug than cover on complicated maps.

I've removed the plugin from slender a few days ago already since it doesn't work on that map.
On minas stage 4 I really like it because it stops people from soloing by hiding.
And hiding in this game is complete cancer, it might force these players to play together if they can't hide anymore.

You are legit forcing Cola Zero on us when everyone here just wants regular Coca Cola
 
On your first point I would say that if there is a scenario where NOBODY is looking behind, that is bad teamplay from humans and they deserve to get punished by a single zm bhoppin on them. It promotes more active "looking behind at zombies" and actually covering.

On second point I would also say that it is all about rewarding the players who actually know the map well, and once again actively defend the zombies.

If noone is backpedaling that means the teamwork is bad and they shouldnt be rewarded for poor team play. You are just gimping zombies from being able to actually win. You say if a zombie hits a nice bhop when people have their back turned and ends the round, unless that zombie got lucky and got headshot and super boosted then they must have worked on their bhopping skills in order to gain an advantage when they are zombie. You are basically saying that people who are good at zombie should just be forced to get fucked because they now cant sneak up on humans in anyway.

You say that people cant know every shortcut to every map that does work both ways not all zms know shortcuts either, this entire argument of your reads more like you just want to discourage people who have map knowledge and other practical skills that are useful when being zombie to actually use the skills. If the humans can know every move that zombies can make because they always see them whats even the point of playing as zombie you not so much hopping to kill the humans through skill so much as you are hopping that they just die to a boss/laser/traps enough that you can simply zerg them down. Do you just want to turn ZE into purely PVE and just make all the zombies bots so that noone can ever lose.

On that thing about minas and hiding yeah hiding is annoying but if an admin is on he can just slay them if not then i guess we just have to find them, it really can be annoying but it also does add an extra layer excitement if someone does manage to pull of a solo. But you seem to bring minas into alot of your arguments to add a new plugin or stripper that seems to be simply to satisfy your own views of how ZE should be played rather than what the community wants.

Only real argument, makes me think about this myself.
It was on the server for two weeks however and we still fail really really hard though.
 
new radar sucks. if no one is looking at the zombie then they don't deserve to see him, backpedaling is pretty basic shit. zombies shouldnt be allowed to see humans on their radar either, hiding is a legit strategy for lots of maps especially when the ct's are heavily outnumbered. the new radar removes any chance of that ever happening. as long as the map is progressing there's no problem with someone deciding to take their chances hiding. i know you like to play with scripts and other questionable things (cough cough unlimited zammo use) but don't bring this garbage to the rest of the server plz
 
people still have time until tommorow to come with more input. seems pretty obvious although that it will be removed again
