The 0 PING topic

The first video pretty much looks normal imo. Nothing wrong there I'd say

The second video however does indeed look like you die before the laser hits :thonk:
I still feel the first video is a little iffy but the difference between the two is what really threw me off.
I use the first video to illustrate the difference using a visual aid they more or less complement each other
 
You played that with ur usual ping right ? smth like 110 ms ? If so, the death in 1st video seems bullshito tier, and in the 2nd one normal death, you jumped too late for a 110ms midlaser.
This map being played most of the time during my work time i cant give so much feedbacks but the last time i played it some weird shit happened. I saw the replay multiple times (via NVIDIA GeForce, so from MY perspective, not serv demo) and it felt like the laser went backwards after i jumped, like there was a conflict with 0 ping laser and myusualping laser. That was my feeling but not sure of anything ofc.
Makes me think about ze_pizzatime when... well I cba

but see thats the point the lasers are almost erratic making it difficult to judge when i need to jump. Like i die in the first one so i say ok i just need to jump later but then i jump later and die before the laser hits me so im left wondering what the timing is since the lasers seem to just have a mind of their own on what part is going to kill you on each different round.

That aside, it does seem inconsistent across both videos. The first one looks fine assuming lagcomp was enabled, but the 2nd one looks fine assuming lagcomp was disabled. Now if that was the case then there's nothing to see here, but you mentioned that you have lagcomp disabled all the time now, so there is something fishy going on...

I recently found that using demos is so much better for stuff like this, because you can go thirdperson and show the players' collision box, like in this example from my own demo, here's a laser going through my collision box which killed me:hl2_2020-02-18_00-29-44.jpg

Obviously client demos are only useful in cases where lagcomp was enabled, but they can very clearly show if the plugin works.

I usually shot at bosses and not zombie but I went into this specifically to get videos about westersand because I feel that's where it's the worst. Yeah I guess demo is better I just forget to type it and hitting alt f9 is easier for shadowplay. And yes I have it always disabled I had a third video with it on but I die to my own stupidity cause my gf walks in to talk to me and I jump a high laser so didnt post since it's not complete.
 
its almost like 0 ping would break maps and we cant even cover 20% of all cases with stripper configs.
0 ping breaks most of maps. There was some scenario where some people were invincible on stage 4 genesis, ifrit, Shiva boss. Like attacks didnt affect them
PS: This bug is still there.

So has anyone further investigated Phantom's clips? Cause there is an inconsistency. Anyone showed them to botox?
 
LagCompensation got updated to takes interpolation into account now. You probably can jump even later now xD

I would like to share my opinion about 0 ping even though I am a bit late but anyway.
So my experience with 0 ping was really nice and normal and it seemed to be working fine as intended (except the incident on tyranny where everyone died on the first/second laser)but other than that
I did not encounter any other weird incidents.The reason I am posting this now is because I read the whole 0 ping topic thread and I just wanted to share my experience,but just because
I had no issues with 0 ping that does not mean that it is smooth for everyone and I completely respect that.Whether it is working fine or not 0 ping was a new thing and it would
naturally take some time to get used to.For me 0 ping was never the reason that I was dying on lasers but my own fault,even though I understand that for some people
it might have been confusing whether they died because of their own fault or just to some plugin not working fine and that's acceptable,you can't even blame them.
Probably with more time and patience from the players 0 ping might have been a good plugin that works fine for everyone since that was the original purpose of it to make it fair for everyone.
Don't get wrong my post here i'm not posting all this to complain now that 0 ping is gone,I just wanted to share my experience and thoughts on that topic that i haven't shared in the past
p.s Don't point out that incident on tyranny I am aware that something was wrong that day.

glad to see that even the ff map hater admins listened in the end to us ff map players. they had to remove 0 ping otherwise the server would die because they need us ff map players.

without us ff map players ze would die. we are the most important players because we keep ze alive. close this thread now because this discussion was all about 0 ping and how it influences laser dodging.

i wish everybody voted to remove it to get internet service like mine (+120 ping with packet loss 0 - 50%) constant and see lazers that moves away from you and then talk . i bet you all dont even know what is packet loss (net_graph 3 / it should be 0% all the time / mine not 0% all the time)
