hello.
Several of you already tried the webclient and know that i have been working on it for some weeks now. At this point in time i think i will dare to publicly announce it on here as well as adding it on the top header of the page so that its easy to find.
it now finally has support for voice chat and microphone. I also worked on a plugin by madness (null138) to help reduce the lag by setting a renderdistance for many of the ingame objects. This should now hopefully also have resolved most of the lag issues ingame i hope. I am still not done working on the webclient, so more updates are expected to come in the future that will improve the experience. If you experience issues try to refresh the web page.
The reasoning should be fairly solid. The current entry barrier for new players is that they need a steam account with counter strike source purchased or they need at the very least need to know of the existence of nosteam clients. Many people dont have these requirements fulfilled. Second, if a person is a steam user is the ingame server browser completely un-useable as is due to all the fake redirect servers that spam the server browser full and have made it unuseable for years by now. Even if somebody purchased Counter Strike Source on Steam it would be difficult for them to run into this community by pure chance.
By having a web browser based client we remove these entries of barriers for people who never in their life might have tried Zombie Escape or Counter strike source before. All that they need is a web browser on firefox or chrome to experience Zombie escape. From that point on they might also decide to actually buy the game and experience it first hand. My intention is that the webclient also will support MG and ZR in the future. its a part of the TO DO list. All that has to be done to be frank is sending the URL around different places so that people can try zombie escape without needing steam/nosteam and counter strike source at all.
I also hope in the future to have multiple clients running at the same time but currently there is only one webclient.
