Greetings, guys.
I'm going to talk about my experience on unloze ze and the problems I've encountered whilst playing for the past two years.
The impression when I first came to the server about 2 years ago, I think people defended it well, played it well, and the leader's leading skill was good, so I had a lot of fun playing it.
But since about a year or six months ago, I've felt that some good players are disappearing.
Then I realized the server was getting worse by my standards. In short, the frequency and number of trolling has increased.
Because of that, I feel that the number and frequency of leaders have also decreased.
What I'm saying is, I want the admins to act and punish immediately when a trolling problem arises.
And I hope the level of punishment will be stronger than now.
The reason I came to think this way and why I decided to write this
is because I think the current server has a high rate of trolling, but the punishments are either nonexistent, too few / mild, or not applied immediately.
As I'll note below, when some of these trolls occur, I believe only a tiny minority of admins are actually handling the server.
Most of them either neglect it, impose minimal punishments, or do nothing at all.
I don't think there are even 4~5 admins handling the work about trolling. That's not to say all admins should log in and do their jobs.
I'm not blaming them either. This mode has been around for too long. They're volunteers after all too.
At the very least, I hope those admins who are online on the server are doing the bare minimum they need to do.
And the reason I want to strengthen the punishment level is because I believe the current level of punishment will never reduce the number of trolls.
Of course, no matter how many mutes or bans are used, trolling won't disappear completely over time.
What I'm trying to say is that the current punishments are too light compared to the number of trolls, so they either take the punishment lightly or continue to do so without much thought.
I join into the server every day these days, and there hasn't been a single day that I haven't seen most trolls, including mic spammers, item trolls, and inflaters etc.
Ofc I don't hate or detest trolling always. Sometimes, trolling in tight situations can be humorous and amusing.
However the current server is plagued by trolling. No one wants to continue playing in this environment.
And I'm not suggesting we raise the punishment level and keep it that way. I just want to raise it, even if only for a short while, to improve the server environment a little.
And then, it's okay to go back to how it was before.
Below are some of the issues I've noticed and my thoughts.
I'd like the punishment to be a few days or weeks longer than usual. Or even months would be fine.
These are just examples, so you don't have to follow them exactly. Please consider them for reference only.
- edging / knifeboosting / item trolling / inflating etc.
If there is a high degree of intention, immediate punishment eban/knifeban/ban (because it is trying to ruin the server atmosphere and round)
- Keep dying after taking an important item or inflating after dying
Even if it's not intentional, please punish if it's repeated. It would be good if people know the importance of their items and know that if an item dies, the round becomes really difficult.
And they should have at least that level of responsibility.
*For beginners, just give a verbal warning or a weak eban. Or you can make an exception for them.
- Taking items and not providing the team with a [defensive advantage], not covering the team, playing self-centeredly, acting in a way that benefits only oneself (or a specific group), intentionally doing nothing after taking items, etc.
*The above applies to players who have high knowledge of the map and are capable of acting for the team, but do not intentionally
Demand for high level of punishment (punishment required if repeated even if not intentional)
- Mic spammers
We know if it's noisy, just use !sm it. But what I'm talking about is when a mic spammer occurs while the leader is talking in a long map or a map that requires a lot of concentration.
Even so, wouldn't you just sm it then? That's right. But I think the flow of the leader's speech is important, and if that's interrupted and ruins the round or causes any damage, then that's should obviously considered trolling.
I wish the admin would mute them immediately. If there are many users like this, please extend the punishment deadline.
- Doorhugging
This is a bit off topic, but...
This is a problem inherent in ze. It's nearly impossible to eliminate doorhugging altogether. It's hard to even call it trolling.
However, this mode is about defending zombies and holding out until the last point. What if most people just hug doors? What if they don't even do trigger?
The current server has so many doorhuggers that it's too frequent to lose rounds.
If dedicated defenders keep losing rounds despite doing their job, they'll feel frustrated and stop playing.
Or they might just end up doorhugging themselves. Ultimately it's just a vicious cycle.
Doorhugging can't be completely eliminated. The point is to work to reduce the number of people who do it.
To do that, the percentage of good players on the server should be high.
Let me tell you a little about myself.
You've probably seen me playing on the server, and you've probably seen me focusing most of my ze gameplay on defense.
I like defense, but the reason I'm so determined to defend is because
I really love ze mode, and I don't want it when people on this server keep losing rounds and leaving, reducing the overall players.
So to avoid losing rounds, I try to defend zombies as much as possible,
to buy time to react to triggers, to cover for vulnerable situations when someone is reloading,
and to cover for beginners who occasionally wander off and get mixed up in the zombies.
I hope there will be more good players like this. But I'm not suggesting you approach gameplay with this goal in mind.
I just want to play with more normal, good players. I think that in order to have a lot of these good players, a good server environment must be prepared first.
Do you remember when ancient wrath v3 first came out?
Back then, the map had only just been released so people were constantly researching it, experimenting with various things, and despite many challenges, they managed to beat it.
This was also a time when map structure, trigger locations, boss strategies, and item ordering etc. were established through extensive experience.
I still remember how much fun ze was back then. This is because there is no intentional trolling at all and everyone played hard on their roles.
I'd like to continue playing with that feeling, but I don't feel now that way anymore. I wish I could play with good players in a good environment again sometimes.
Lastly, I don't know exactly how long this server has been around, but I remember it being quite long.
I wish this server would run longer. It might seem like a miracle that it's gotten this far, but I think it's all thanks to the great players and management that we've been able to get this far, so it's only natural that it's been able to last this long.
And I don't matter if my suggestion isn't accepted.
This is your server. You can do whatever you want. Whatever decision you make, I'll respect it.
Summary :
About troll behaviors, admins should actively warn and punish them.
Thank you for reading this long article.
My English isn't very good, so I used a translator for some parts.
Please let me know if there's anything you don't understand.
Thank you again.
