crowd-spawn maps are unreasonably rng depedent.
in my 200 hours of playing this server, I have observed that nearly every single round that is won on most of the crowd-spawn maps, is on the account of the mother zombie being afk and/or being slow that they fall behind 80% of the team.

the round is over 100% of the time a zombie spawns near the top 40% fastest players, this can't be fun for anyone.

simple fixes that would minimize this rng without making the map too easy include.

  1. identify mother zombie(s) with pulsing blue-red glow colour before they turn into a zombie.
  2. for the first two or three seconds, all of the mother zombie's knife damage will be negated.

it is quite hard to win the map if zombie spawn with human in normal ze map.
i don't understand why minecraft, elevator_escape and some of other normal map have crowdspawn enabled,
when random_v9 don't even have it enabled.

But you don't even play them so how would you know, you play like 3 hours a week mostly for mako
1. I used to play a lot lot more hahahah. Especially those old school maps. It's only recently I have become more inactive
2. I hate to play mako. I only joined for Fierce's spicy event. Else, you will never ever see me on mako. Never.

The thing I despite the most about crowdspawn is the people holding their knife out just counting down and pressing M2 when the timer reaches 0. Instant 100% success rate mother zombie disposal. Same with everyone getting their nades ready, or pre-firing the hallway where everyone is.

One way of fixing it I just thought of was to actually add more RNG in the game : instead of having a fixed timer for mother ZM spawn, make it a variable.
10 secs for ZM spawn --> they can spawn between 9 and 11 secs.

Hell, go crazy with it and give people different infection times. First ZM spawns at 8s, 2nd and 3rd at 9s. One last guy gets zombie at 11s.

These are ideas im sharing.

Most here played these oldschool maps for like 8 years at this point. Licciana/sorrento/potc on unloze reminds of licciana/sorrento/potc on i3d/supreme elite in terms of crowdspawn. Most here know how that works and it just still works the same.

The activity argumenet is very double edged. Just because you are currently more active than most others does not mean you know what unloze is or what its meant to be. I mean as far as i know you played GFl for years and just joined us here when botox came in. Some people clearly dont understand/give a shit that this is not GFL 2 because they did not play on unloze when GFL was still a popular place. So they just think of GFL and try to see the issues in how UNLOZE is not like it.

They just see a server with what they expect to be a lot of random people (some playing here for 3-4 years alraedy) and then recognize some old faces from GFL that they once knew.

I mean i played GFL for many years before i made unloze and know the only oldschool map that was ever played was artic escape and that GFl played them all without crowd spawn making the experience really only about mic spamming.

Oldschool maps on GFL was never a big thing, and i just really think its a mindset of a different environment that you are not used to because you just want GFL. But a certain austrian you want unbanned is why its dead now except events and why you are forced on to unloze wishing it was your GFL environment.

But ye otherwise the color idea just makes people aware that they are about to become mother zombies so that they just in advance can go inbetween huge crowds.

I am still proud that I got you to play Mako 4 hours straight with the event :lenny:

I'd say moving the server to the UK, taking if offline, hosting the server on a trash machine that lags terribly and a few other mismanagements more greatly contributed to killing it off than anything Botox did to GFL

what lol. he gave the server back to gfl.com because it was dead already for some 6-7 months.

And ye i am sure a slightly worse machine in UK is totally worse than somebody not paying the server machine bill in time and hence it being offline for 2-4 days in a row for several months.

Not even to mention that none of the things you mentioned would had happened if botox did not steal it to begin with.

Not even to mention bhop hacking, laser hacking, radar hacking or for example the knife switch plugin that like 80% of the community was against followed by botox making a poll about the topic just to ignore the result in the end.

Not even to mention that botox said gflclan.ru was his personal sandbox environment and that big shock,- his complete in-capability at understanding what managing a community is compared to just having fun drove people away and that big shock botox has 0 regrets about any of his actions.

GFL was literally the monopoly being stolen by one man that ran it to the ground by his choices. One man alone, if he was not around so many things would not had happened and in this case it would had been quite for the better.

More the nail in the coffin.

Wasn't Juky the one who stole it in the first place? GFL had been hacked and they lost all of their donation money, server would definitely had issues if it wasn't stolen, I doubt the issues with Roy not willing to fully fund CSS ZE would've gone away if there was never the split.

Server went down with Roy too, why would anyone play on UK GFL when Unloze/Nide are better performing and have more players.

Not sure how much of that he did with GFL, but I really doubt that killed off the server.

Was a shit idea and I didn't like the plugin nor him ignoring the poll but he did remove it in the end IIRC, forums are down so no way for me to check.

If he wasn't around GFL CSS ZE would probably die, either from Juky not having the technical skills to manage the server or from it staying with GFL during the hack and being down while that was happening

I sat with george, obus, juky and botox on teamspeak 3 to talk about botox plan to make gflclan.ru. This was talked about before botox noticed soja had stolen donation money. GFL was "hacked" 3 times but that has nothing to do with the donation money, those were simply people uploading shit to their website. Soja simply had access to the GFL paypal because he was co-founder with roy. Botox used that as excuse to make GFlclan.ru but already had the plan way before. How do i know that? BECAUSE WE FUCKING TALKED ON TEAMSPEAK ABOUT IT MONTHS BEFORE.

Juky (like many others) knew the theft was going to happen but only botox dared to: Create a steam token -> put it on gfl for 4-6 months -> buy a dedicated machine -> copy all gfl settings over to the bought machine -> crash the gfl machine -> launch new machine with steam token making everybody think its just GFL. Juky did not act at all and everybody that remained idle can of course be blamed to some extend but nobody except botox would had pulled that off with steam tokens or shutting the gfl machine down hosting css ze.

I even remember i manually added the correct IP back to my favorites. It was of course offline since botox HAD CRASHED THE GFL MACHINE, but some days after roy got home again the server was temporarely online with a password and only roy and some other guy i forgot on it.

So no server did actually still exists afterwards. Was just shut down again because i guess roy had no motivation and so instead just threw the towel?
Also dont forget that until botox's theft,- GFL css ze was still highest or second highest donation pool for GFL so it only would make sense to keep that.

Server went down with Roy too, why would anyone play on UK GFL when Unloze/Nide are better performing and have more players.
As said again, GFL css ze stood in chicago from 2010 until 2016, and would still in 2020 had stood in chicago if botox had not forcefully shut the server down and moved everybodies favorite list over to his own servers ip because of the steam token.

Not sure how much of that he did with GFL, but I really doubt that killed off the server.
Juky wrote an post on the gflclan.ru forum exactly stating that the constant hacking from botox side overshadowed all positive things he brought the community.

If he wasn't around GFL CSS ZE would probably die, either from Juky not having the technical skills to manage the server or from it staying with GFL during the hack and being down while that was happening
Juky was mostly also just known as the guy that had spent 4-6 k hours of playtime on gfl css ze, not really for the technical aspects of the server. GFL css ze had many managers like stefan/john/juky/stache and also many periods with no managers at all.

As said after GFl's website got hacked 3 times they did re-install everything and were down for 2-3 weeks if i remember correctly. That does not change doe that the server from 2012 until 2016 (exactly the day botox shut it down) had been 24/7 64/64 and that gfl csgo ze still is super full today. I mean people loyal to GFL left right away, you would never see CNE on gfl.ru and same for most GFL people. A huge chunk was gone within a week and the remaining could still fill it up for the first year.

Also finally: all servers that were stolen during GFl's downtime were stolen by people that were admin/managers on GFl already, not a single server was threatened by the people hacking their website.

Man I love talking about croudspawn :bobross:

@Malala, please for the love of god stop talking like you know every detail about what happened with GFL. As someone who was active during that time, I never saw you. Even though I was more active on CSGO so I don't know about how the server moved, I do know that Roy actually cared about the future of GFL and worked super hard to make sure everything was stabilized again. Even I refused to play on GFL.ru for about a year because I despised BotoX (and still do, hes a massive cunt that doesn't deserve that much praise).

As for the website hack, stop blaming Roy for incompetence. He actually was in the middle of working on the new forum software to increase security before the attacks happened. You can go back in the archive and see he was talking about the new software before the attacks happened.

Also, stop going through everyone's post and quoting every sentence to add your own opinion, makes you look incredibly stupid and ignorant and I'm glad you are forum banned on GFL so I don't have to read your stupid posts all the time.

There was no hack, the money was stolen by a higher up.
FYI
The website was hacked too
Botox used that as excuse to make GFlclan.ru but already had the plan way before. How do i know that? BECAUSE WE FUCKING TALKED ON TEAMSPEAK ABOUT IT MONTHS BEFORE.
Didn't actually know this as it was never mentioned, but regardless the move did happen after it.
None of this was ever mentioned before to me, and I doubt it was mentioned on .ru thanks.
and would still in 2020 had stood in chicago if botox had not forcefully shut the server down and moved everybodies favorite list over to his own servers ip because of the steam token.
Speculation, can't say for sure what would or wouldn't have happened if .ru never happened.
Juky wrote an post on the gflclan.ru forum exactly stating that the constant hacking from botox side overshadowed all positive things he brought the community.
I remember Juky writing a post about the merge but I don't remember him saying anything like this.
As said after GFl's website got hacked 3 times they did re-install everything and were down for 2-3 weeks if i remember correctly
Would this not have an effect on the server population?
A huge chunk was gone within a week and the remaining could still fill it up for the first year.
So you're saying it was still active even after the split?
Also finally: all servers that were stolen during GFl's downtime were stolen by people that were admin/managers on GFl already, not a single server was threatened by the people hacking their website.
Servers were taken independent of the hack sure, hack shows poor management and a lack of security, the SQL was leaked along with passwords, emails and ips, puts a bit of distrust into the manager for some people.
I do know that Roy actually cared about the future of GFL and worked super hard to make sure everything was stabilized again.
When did I say contrary, all I said was he mismanaged it.
As for the website hack, stop blaming Roy for incompetence.
Is it not his incompetence the website got hacked, multiple times? You know your full name got leaked because of the hack right, you could literally be doxed because of his incompetence but you think he shouldn't have any blame?
He actually was in the middle of working on the new forum software to increase security before the attacks happened
Software doesn't fix basic security flaws, he didn't just get hacked once, he got hacked three(?) times.

Speculation, can't say for sure what would or wouldn't have happened if .ru never happened.
yes okay fair enough. By any random means it could had moved but there really would be no reason/ motivation to do so. Until the very day botox shut gfl down it was 64/64 as the only remaining ze server in North America for years already.

Would this not have an effect on the server population?
Well my argument was that GFL csgo ze was down too in that period but also made it out again. I mean other case was also nide being offline 2 weeks when their datacenter caught fire in 2019 and they are still more populated now.

So you're saying it was still active even after the split?
gflclan.ru was active the first year still yes, however anybody strongly associated to GFL stayed away right from the beginning. The rest of the people playing continued to dry out after the first year had ended. Atleast i believe thats what your asking? I mean many of the rest not loyal to GFL left over time because they simply were fed up with gflclan.ru for not really being a community but more just a sandbox server run by a guy and his 8 year old mentality that just his fun matters and everything else can be ignored.
I mean some people sure also loved that mentality and for that reason loved GFLclan.ru but hey that cant keep normal people around and hence its no more today.

Not even to mention that botox had his actual own ze server before he stole the one from GFL and that it never got even 6 players in total. I mean botox did not even try a single time to populate it really. Stefan, him and me had played some rounds of mirrors edge on it and that was pretty much all activity it ever got. Botox did not put more effort into it than that.

On an unrelated note i feel very dumb that i even dared to give him any access what so ever on unloze. I mean i thought hey maybe he learned from GFL.ru but nope, he just locked all unloze staff out of the machine instead. And yes i could still ramble for hours about botox... to be fair first time i saw him was on SG all the way back in 2012.

I'm just here to say that I'm glad that botox got a permanent ban. Ruining all the enjoyment that I have on playing this great game and gamemode. I was completely stunned on knowing that he was trying to hack our system even though he was removed, and I think if botox hadn't stolen the server at the time, GFL was still quite popular, I'm sure.
