I talked to Ryan about this and I came in conclusion that it might benefit population of zombie escape. I'm talking about !hide. I have been using it dozens of times already on mg server, it is extremely useful at parts of map where you need clear vision and team mates block that vision of yours. Let's talk this out!

I agree but the higher up's strongest argument on this is "but but it will make it easier for laser fags"

Laser fags have mouth on their own and they can come here disapprove with clear and solid arguments.
!hide won't be used just for laser maps, it will help regular non tryhard population to beat maps where they need better vision
boss fights will be much easier with less Lifeblood of Zombie Escape and failure

For sure a command with great advantages. But for the laser part, to get a good vision is part of the lasers themselves. You need to do the best you can to clear your vision (for example being the nearest possible of the boss) a maximum which is also a challenge, not just jump-crouch-crouch-jump...

I've seen a lot of players dying at skyrim ladder part and climb parts because of ct block vision just an example
About laser part, higher ups can disable it at laser maps

I agree that the sm_hide is a really great command and lets be honest guys , this won't just help laser fags because transparency plugin does exist after all unlike cs go but it will also help those who have performance issues ( i do in some maps like paramina for example you cant see the attacks clearly if you are in a crowd until you start losing hp) . if the command brings no harm for the server why shouldn't we test it and see how it goes .

It will also make bunnyhopping a lot easier since all the players eat your fps. Not sure if this is a good or bad thing.

Why is 'it makes lasers easier some sort of counter-argument'? At this late stage of ze, those who can already do lasers wont be affected since they can already do them, and those who cant, well, now maybe they can have a shot at beating such a poorly thought out mechanic, that exists to do nothing but reduce the number of winners and let them actually win.

Do people know how galling it is to win round after round, then die instantly to the fucking lasers, instead of the actual zombies?

Hell I quit playing laser maps because of the above. Its a bullshit 'I'm better than you' mechanic that ruins maps for the non-tryhard. You get to the end, escape the zombies, then boom, insta-killed by something that isn't even relevant to wtf is happening. I don't have the reactions, or the eyesight to handle them (especially Westersand, the colour choice blends with the sky for me and I cant see until too late).

Basically, make it easier. There is no actual downside.

*rant over*

No rant about bhop fps. If you want to abuse that, you can just turn all your settings down or use those fps configs that existed for like a decade. Thats not even a relevant point.

you can use cl_minmodels 1 and r_3dsky 0 if you want to de-clutter your vision, newer players aren't aware of these commands so maybe we can display a server message to let people know they exist similar to the discord/forum messages

Lets make ZE even easier boys... legit worst idea ever and I hope for the love of god this won't get implemented.

One of ZE's core features has always been Vision vs Danger. This is not only about getting closer to a boss fight that shoots lasers at you, but also getting closer at defence parts to have a clear vision to shoot zombies, but be an easier target to infect. Also being first on course parts to see stuff better, as trade-off taking more risk at incoming traps.

ZE is already too fucking easy as it is. The only reason to implement this is for fps, but then let the plug-in be a radius like n4a uses, so everything in your nearby area is still part of the game.
Also if you don't want to play with other people don't play a multiplayer game.

I wouldn't say it's a core feauture. More like an unintended consequence of having so many people. I am very sure most people, even you, would compain if we removed the transparecy that is already there.

Either way, we tried but it turned out to be a bad thing for the CPU so we decided not having it is better than risking something.

I have played like 7 years without this transparency and I do think it ruins the thought of pre- and peri-positioning. I do agree that its useful for some maps with terribly small chokepoints where u basically can't see shit with 64 players. Other than that it makes ZE easier as it is and we are in a time now where servers should focus on keeping its playerbase and not try gathering new players (because there are no new ze players).

I guess discussion is over anyway since it can't be implemented.

Oh great its that cancerous as fuck elitest bullshit all over again. Yea cause constantly making shit harder sure worked wonders for the gfl server! And it sure made the existing population want to stay!

If theres anything I've learned its that elitist who preach for harder settings are cancer to zombie escape in general. They drive away new players with their "zombie escape has to be played like this" mentality. Then they drive themselves and the general population away from the server because their dumbass settings create extra work, but they dont like putting in extra work and they don't like losing, so they start to selectively choose which sessions to be in. Real great stuff, implement shit that panders to the select few, who ended up abandoning the server because they dont wish to make up for the extra work on a daily basis.

Zombie escape is a multiplayer game heavily dependent on large number of players to function, and requires a lot of players and thus your settings should attempt to appeal to alot of players. Pander to the most skilled fucks and it will come at the cost of entertainment for the less skilled players. And in the end of it all, it's those less skilled players who keep the server alive. If you want challenge, consider fucking going to a minigames or bhop server. If you want a challenge on zombie escape, how about you hypocrites try leading a hard as fuck new map, or get a mic and tryhard crap for 3-6 hours?

I shit you not, its the second rate hypocrites who screech about zombie escape being easy who are the biggest pieces of cancer of them all. Zombie escape has tons of fucking hard maps out there that barely get beaten and yet you cowardly fucks wouldn't touch a single one of those maps yourself on a casual day. Always waiting for a good session, always making excuses, always waiting for a leader. You jump onto these sessions only, ride off the coattails of the team and the leader and then whine later on about how everything is too easy.

As for mako you got the choice of making it appealing for more players, prompting it to be played a bit more often or pandering to these elitist fucks who screech about "legitness" and then they never come to the server because the map that they bitch about barely gets played due to how unpopular it ends up with the population.
